Call us a “workshop” instead of a bicycle shop. As DIY workshop, we love to see you guys taking care your beloved fixed gear by yourself with love. Isn’t it so great when we deliberately take time put all parts together even though only some few parts for a fixie? We always see owners staring at their bike and said out loud, “mine is f***ing beautiful.” We love that and we do so. It is a piece of art. So…the word like ” Gallery Workshop” was just popped in our heads. Aha, this would be a nice kind of concept, mechanic plus artist

Workshop  ไม้เล็กๆอายุซัก 30 ปีเห็นจะได้ อดีตเคยเป็นร้านค้าขายของชำ โชว์ห่วย หล่อเลี้ยงผู้คนในระแวกหลังวัดมหาพฤฒาราม นี้ ซึ่งเข้าใจว่าตอนนี้เจ้าของร้านคนนั้นคงได้ดิบได้ดีเปิด7/11 นั่งนับเงินไปแล้ว หลังจากนั้นกลายมาเป็นห้องเก็บของที่เก็บฝุ่นและขี้แมวไว้อีกซัก 10 ปี วันนี้กลายเป็น  workshop จักรยาน fixed gear  เราแบ่งพื้นที่ออกเป็นสองส่วนหลักๆ คือ ส่วน Workshop และส่วนอเนกประสงค์…

The 30 years old little wooden Workshop used to be a grocer’s shop feeding lives  in the back of  Maha Phruttharam temple. It is believed that the ex-owner is now openning a 7/11 should have been a millionaire already. Anyway more than 10 year after that it had been a storeroom of dust and cat shit before being us today. In this little box we cut it into 2 zones; workshop and utility.

ส่วน workshop ทำให้เป็นพื้นที่ๆ พี่ๆ น้องๆ จะได้จัดการกับศิลปะจักรยานสุดรัก มีเครื่องมืออุปกรณ์อยู่ประมาณนึง ไม่เยอะนักแต่ก็เพียงพอที่จะจัดการจักรยานได้ทั้งคัน  เราไม่ได้เก่ง ไม่ได้เป็นช่างจักรยานตัวยง เรามีประสบการเล็กๆน้อยๆ ตามประสาคนชอบ วันนี้เราสนุกกับการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ ประสบการณ์ สนุกกับการช่วยกันซ่อม ดัดแปลง ประกอบ หรือแม้แต่ยืนดูคนอื่นทำ มากกว่าที่จะทำหน้าที่เป็นช่างจักรยานแบบจิงๆจังๆ เก็บเล็กเก็บน้อย ลองนั่นลองนี้ ไปเรื่อย คิดว่าต่อไปเราจะเป็น ”เซียน” ไปพร้อมๆกับพี่ๆน้องๆที่แวะเวียนมา

On the workshop side, like its name, the stage for you to perform your master-piece fixie art. We have not so many tooling but enough to get a fixed gear done. Not experts nor great bicycle mechanics,  we are only  fixed gear lovers getting some sort of little experience along the ways. Today we still enjoy talking, exchanging experiences, modifying, repairing, or even staring at what people working, instead of being professional mechanics. Just believe this will help us to be Pro together with you guys.

อีกด้านหนึ่งเป็นส่วนอเนกประสงค์ ถูกแบ่งจากส่วน workshop ด้วยชั้นเหล็ก DIY ที่ออกแบบให้คล้ายๆ เป็นเวที แถมประโยชน์ในแขวนชิ้นส่วนต่างๆ ส่วนนี้เป็นด้านที่เก็บอะไหล่ต่างๆนานาไว้ มีไม่มากมาย อย่างละนิดอย่างละหน่อย เราได้ contact มาสองสามเจ้า เราพยามและสนุกกับการหาอะไหล่ที่แตกต่าง เพื่อตอบโจทย์ความเป็นตัวตน  fixed gear เป็นเหมือนอะไรที่บ่งบอกความเป็นตัวเรา เหมือนเป็นบัตรประชาชนที่ออกแบบได้เอง เหมือนบัตรเครดิตสมัยนี้  การเลือกเฟรมก็ต้องได้ขนาดเหมาะกับเรา เราจึงชอบที่จะ customize โดยให้สั่งไซส์ที่เหมาะสมกับตัว มากกว่าเราจะสั่งคละไซส์มากองไว้เยอะๆ น่าสงสารเฟรมที่ไม่ถูกเลือก ประเด็นสำคัญอีกอย่างคือ เราไม่มีปัญญาจะสั่งของมากมายมากองด้วย ช่วยชาติประหยัด หุหุ (เราไม่มีตังค์) อนาคต อยากทำ customize เต็มรูปแบบ แล้วก็หาอะไหล่ vintage มาลงให้เข้ากับหน้าตาร้าน อันนี้ก้อค่อยเป็นค่อยไป วันนี้ขอให้มันอยู่ได้ด้วยตัวเอง ง่ายๆคือ ไม่เจ๊งก็โอละ

Utility is on the other side, splitted by our DIY tube shelf acting as a little stage plus storing some parts. We do not have massive parts, only some makers. We do try and enjoy to find different parts to answer fixed gear which is somehow your ID. It is something that defines yourself. Getting a frame needs a suitable size, so we love to have pre-order frames, not order a big lot of mix sizes. The unselected frames will be so pity. (actually, we do not have so much money to do like that.) Looking forward, we would love to be a full-custom workshop. And may be looking for some vintage stuff in to make it match to how the workshop looks. However, for the time being, we just want it getting of the ground, not getting bankrupt is just enough. HA HA…

ส่วนเอนกประสงค์นี้ ยังมีที่ว่างมากพอที่จะวางโต๊ะนั่งเสวนา น่าจะเป็นบรรยากาศที่เจ๋งมิใช่น้อย ถ้าเราได้เปิดเพลง Rock ที่ชอบ นั่งคุย เล่นมุข พร้อมเครื่องดื่มสีเหลืองทองเย็นๆฟองหนานุ่มในแก้วแช่เย็นที่มีละอองน้ำชุ่มฉ่ำเกาะอยู่ โยนมุขตลกไปมากับบางคนที่กำลังสรรสร้างงานศิลป์ของจักรยานคันเก่งอยู่อีกฟากนึง ใน Cog’n’Roll workshop บรรยากาศ vintage แห่งนี้…

Still some space left on the utility section on purpose.  It is so cool when we have some nice Rock songs, grab some beers,  sit around the table, chat and play some jokes, while somebody else is performing their fixie arts on the workshop stage on the other side in this vintage-look Cog’n'Roll workshop….

It had been about 4 months since we started the project. Pretty long one with an annoying and boring excuse; “I got no time”.
Anyway, we could some how, say “accomplished”. However, as we know that there seems to be no any fixed gear stops, right!?!

Back to the very first day, Pook went straight to the suspension system..??

หลังจากเปลื้องผ้าออกหมด เธอถูกพาไปชุบตัว ด้วยสี “ส้ม บวร แท๊กซี่” ขอบคุณลุงจักรยานโบราณ ซอยโชคชัย4 (หมาบ้านแก พุดเดิ้ล ตัวติ๊ดเดียว แต่ดุอิ๊บอ๋าย)
Taking off her clothes, put on Orange-Boworn Taxi by uncle Antique Bicycle @Chokchai 4. (His dog is a hell scary tiny puddle, killing me!!)

เป็นคันเลยละกัน..เดี๋ยวยาวไป จากเดิมที่พยามจะเก็บเกียร์และเบรคไว้ Pook ก็ทนแรงกดดันของเพื่อนไม่ไหว สุดท้ายก็เป็น fixed gear Pook ยืนยันที่จะเก็บเบรคเอาไว้ บอก “กูกัววว” แต่เรื่อง Drop bar เดิมกับเบรคก็ยังมีปัญหาาาา

Better see it almost completed…Pook tried hard to keep the derailing, gear, but ended up with fixed gear, what a peer pressure! He insist to keep the break; said “It’s scary, mannnn!” However, the combination not really went so well.

Pook finally decided to make his life easier by using raised bar, left the classic behind.

ไม่ใช่หางปลา แต่เป็น Dropout แบบรถมีเกียร์

Not a horizontal track but vertical Dropout like other geared bike….

เรียกว่าฟลุ๊กเลยละกัน จานหน้าเดิม 52 จับคู่กับ cog 21T จาก DDiamond โซ่ตึงพอดิบพอดี ไ้ด้อัตราทดที่ 2.48 กำลังเหมาะ ไม่หนัก/เบาไป จัดไป 21 skid patches skidแบบประหยัด (ถ้า Pook มันจะ skid นะ)

How great! The original 52T chainring and DDiamond 21T cog bring about a perfect combination of great chain tension and great gear ratio of 2.48. Save Pook’s tyre with 21 skid patches (in case he skid, which I don’t think so..).

Congrats to Pook! Now he’s got his new OLD RADAC!! “She had slept safe waiting for me, just like Destiny!…”,  said Pook after an hours searching from thousands of Jap bike garage. We, CNR, did convince to covert to Fixed, but it seemed not work after the only 1 lap of 3 km hilly KKC killing our no-gear fixies. And Pook insisted to keep the gear system. Anyway, it is now registered as “RADAC; the reborn!!”

ต้องยินดีกับ Pook ด้วย สำหรับ RADAC เก่าคันใหม่  ”เป็นโชคชะตาแท้ๆ ที่นำเรามาพบกัน นอนรอ(กู)อยู่ รอแค่ให้(กู)มาเจอเท่านั้นเอง” Pook กล่าวหลังจากที่เราเดินส่องจากกองจักรยานเป็นพัน เกลื่อนร้านจักรยานญี่ปุ่น เรา (CNR) พยามหลายครั้ง บอกให้ไปแปลง dropout หางปลาซะจะได้เป็น fixed gear แต่ดูเหมือนจะไม่เวิร์ค โดยเฉพาะตอนที่เราพยามปั่น fixed คู่ใจแทบรากเลือด ตลอด track ที่เป็นเขา เป็นเนินกว่า 3 กม. ของแก่งกระจานเซอร์กิต เกือบจะไม่ครบรอบเอา (ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องกิ๊กก๊องของคนอื่น) ทำให้ Pook ยืนยันจะเก็บเกียร์เอาไว้ เอาเหอะไม่ต้อง fixed gear แต่ก็เป็น Project นึงหละ ;> … RADAC; the reborn!!
